Leapr Labs is Solving Africa’s Biggest Challenges Using Innovation and Robotics

Compared to the rest of the world, Africa has a lot of catching up to do, particularly as regards providing local solutions to local problems. Nation builders, governments, and institutions are beginning to look inwards for solutions, and Leapr Labs is looking to actively contribute towards that.

Leapr Labs is a deep tech ideation and research organization with the vision and mission of “developing and building solutions for Africa’s biggest challenges.” Through its Flying Robots Fellowship, led by co-founder and CEO Serge Tuyihimbaze, the company in 2019 trained about 150 students to design, build and test drones saddled with different functionalities.

Based in Kigali, Rwanda, the community of scientists and technologists is looking to make a social impact by translating scientific research into societal solutions, and the journey is only just beginning. Leapr Labs has a unique approach (the 4Ds), i.e., to Define, Design, Develop and Deploy solutions.

In 2020, the company made giant strides at the African Drone Forum that saw it come into partnerships with global drone companies. With persistence and dedication to its mission, Leapr Labs promises to thrive.
