AIMS is Expanding Africa’s Base of Excellence in Mathematical Sciences

by:

Solutions to complex challenges in health, finance, agriculture, climate change adaptation, and some other sectors require advanced mathematical modeling skills. The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) was founded in 2003 with a single goal – to help the African continent produce and utilize science and technology for its development.

AIMS is Africa’s first, most extensive academic network for innovative postgraduate training in mathematical sciences. It is a space where the continent’s brightest graduates are exposed to diverse study programs and trained to become Africa’s Einsteins. Supported through private and public funding, AIMS is a full scholarship program with teaching staff from some of the world’s best universities.

This program propels Africa’s socio-economic transformation by training brilliant young Africans in innovative mathematical sciences, machine intelligence, and relevant cutting-edge research.

By putting bright African minds to work, AIMS wants to enable these brilliant minds to thrive as independent thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers capable of driving Africa’s future scientific and economic self-sufficiency.
